In the last decade or so, I’ve picked up the habit of going to the sauna. Before starting XtraClubs, before tracking the health benefits that sauna provides, going to the sauna was more of an escape for me. It was somewhere I could leave behind the responsibilities and stresses of life.
These days, routine saunas are much more valuable to me than a 15 minute zone-out session. So when I recently set out to make three, four and even five visits to the sauna as a weekly commitment, I was frustrated by the unjustifiably expensive costs that were considered normal in the wellness market.
I know I’m not alone in this feeling. Majority of the saunas in Sydney have been well above the $40 to $50 price point since before Covid. Now, you’re likely needing to spend above $60 for a basic weekly package, entitling you to two to three visits.
So instead of bypassing the industry problem and installing a sauna in my home like I had originally planned, I decided to do something about it.
That’s where the idea for XtraClubs was born. Affordable entry to saunas in Sydney, accessible through a number of locations across the city and its wider regions.
Lowering the barrier to entry for wellness enthusiasts will undoubtedly be XtraClubs’ greatest achievement – and we expect the other saunas in Sydney to pivot on their membership strategies as a result.
So to remain top of mind in the Sydney wellness market – not just 2024, which rides on a wave of excitement from our first location opening in Bondi Junction; We’ve taken what others might say is a bold step in our aggressive emergence in the market, and chosen not to compromise in quality.
Rather, we’re equipping our wellness centres with custom, high-quality facilities, that will ensure our community will forever love stepping through XtraClubs’ doors.
The first step to meeting this ambition was contacting the team at SaunaBros. These Estonian-born sauna masters have designed and installed saunas in Sydney for elite clientele.
We couldn’t be more thrilled with the work they are doing at Bondi Junction. A massive steam sauna, crafted with Finnish design principles. It’s the largest sauna in Australia, able to seat 30 people comfortably at any given time.
Alongside its traditional feel, this sauna is equipped with modern conveniences, including automatic water spray and air circulation which ensure consistent heat and perfect humidity levels. Compare this experience with other saunas in Sydney, and you’ll immediately notice the difference.
Rounding out XtraClubs’ services are the three infrared saunas, six ice baths and the Turkish inspired steam room.
